MONETA rule guide

Every MONETA rule on one page, compiled from the official FAQ, the official guidebook and checks with the MONETA team.

Purchase to payout

  1. Choose and buy an accountPick the plan and size that suit your trading. Pay by Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay or crypto. Your account details arrive automatically right away.
  2. Log in and checkSave the login details sent by email, then check your account in the trading platform (MT5 / Match-Trader) and the dashboard.
  3. Trade by the rulesProfit target, daily loss, max loss, floating loss limit, prohibited methods. Break any one of them and the account is breached.
  4. ID check and agreementOnce you pass, complete identity verification (KYC) and the trader agreement. You need a valid government photo ID and a live selfie.
  5. Go fundedAfter the target check, KYC, agreement and risk review, your funded account is issued — usually within 2 business days. No-evaluation plans are funded from purchase.
  6. Get paidWhen you meet the conditions, close all positions and request from the dashboard. Review and processing usually take 24–48 business hours (excluding weekends and international holidays).

Drawdown (max loss)

The floor your account can't fall below. MONETA has three behaviors: static, trailing, and locking once a payout is approved.

Static: floor = initial account size × (1 − max loss %). It doesn't move as profit grows. With $100,000 and 10%, the floor stays at $90,000 even if the balance reaches $110,000. Phoenix calculates it from each level's account size.

Trailing (Instant, Instant Pro, 1-Step): the floor is your highest balance or equity minus initial account size × max loss %. Once it rises it never falls, and it stops when it reaches the initial balance. Payouts don't lower it.

Locks once a payout is approved: on 1-Step Daily, Instant, Instant Pro and 1-Step, the floor locks at the initial balance when a payout is approved (not when it arrives). Withdraw all profit and balance = floor, which is a breach, so leave a little in.

Breaches are judged on equity including floating P/L, not just the balance after closing.

Static1-Step Daily (2% static until a payout is approved) / 2-Step / Phoenix (per level)
TrailingInstant (5%) / Instant Pro (8%) / 1-Step (5%)
Example: Pro $5,000Loss room $400 → starting floor $4,600. At a $5,400 high the floor reaches $5,000 and stops

Daily loss limit

A loss limit that resets every day at 22:00 UTC (London: 22:00 GMT / 23:00 BST; New York: 17:00 EST / 18:00 EDT).

The base is the initial account size (for Phoenix, the current level's account size). Daily allowed loss = base × daily loss %; it isn't recalculated from your current balance.

Every day at 22:00 UTC (London: 22:00 GMT / 23:00 BST; New York: 17:00 EST / 18:00 EDT), balance and equity are compared, and the higher one minus the allowed loss is that day's breach level. Floating losses from the previous day don't disappear at the reset.

Example: $100,000 with 4% daily. Balance $100,000 and equity $101,000 → floor $97,000. Balance $100,000 and equity $99,000 → floor $96,000, leaving $3,000 of room.

Spreads tend to widen around the reset, so it's safer to avoid trading then.

The reset is simultaneous worldwide at 22:00 UTC. Local clocks vary by time zone and daylight saving; this is separate from the trading platform’s server clock.

How profit days are counted

On plans with minimum profit days, only days with profit of at least 0.5% of the initial account size count. They don't need to be in a row.

The formula is "the lower of balance and equity at the day change − the previous day's balance". Not just closed profit counts — floating losses on positions you hold over can keep you short.

Even below the initial balance, a day counts if that day's measured profit is 0.5% or more.

Required days: 2-Step needs 3 each in Phase 1, Phase 2 and Funded; Phoenix needs 3 each for scaling and payouts; 1-Step needs 3 each during evaluation and once funded. 1-Step Daily, Instant, Instant Pro and Sprint need none.

$5,000 account$25
$10,000 account$50
$50,000 account$250
$100,000 account$500

Consistency rule (Instant only)

A rule only on Instant Funding. If one day's profit is too large, you can't withdraw.

Your best day's closed profit ÷ total profit in the current payout cycle must be at or below the 15% or 20% you chose at purchase.

Example: $10,000 total profit at 20% → best day $2,000 or less. Spread evenly that's at least 5 days at 20% and 7+ at 15%, but you don't have to make 0.5% every day.

If you're above it, keep trading to bring the ratio down and you can withdraw. That alone isn't a breach. The calculation resets after a payout (the max loss floor doesn't).

Instant Pro, Phoenix, 1-Step Daily, 2-Step and 1-Step have no consistency rule.

Floating loss limit (funded accounts)

Separate from daily and max loss, there's a floating loss limit. You can breach it even with loss room left.

Warning type: multiple positions on the same symbol are added together. At the limit, every position on the account closes automatically, you get an email, and trading stops until the next 22:00 UTC (London: 22:00 GMT / 23:00 BST; New York: 17:00 EST / 18:00 EDT). After that, the account has a "1.5% per trade idea" limit; exceed it and you're breached.

Immediate-breach type: on Instant and 1-Step, a floating loss reaching 1% of the account is a breach.

Strongly correlated symbols may be treated as one idea. The 1.5% limit becomes eligible for removal after 14 days and 20 trades on a different funded account.

Payout conditions and methods

Basically 14 days after your first trade, $100+ profit, then every 14 days. Plan-specific exceptions take priority.

You can request from the same time 14 calendar days after your first trade, then every 14 days. Exceptions: 1-Step Daily is daily (max per request 50K: $1,000 / 100K: $2,000), Instant Pro's first payout is any time once conditions are met, and Sprint is after hitting the target within the time limit.

Before requesting you need all positions closed, KYC and the agreement completed, rules followed, and any required profit days or consistency met. The minimum is generally $100.

Methods: USDC (ERC20), USDT (ERC20), USDT (TRC20) and direct transfer to a Moneta Markets account. Choose the currency and network shown on the payout screen (separate from the one you paid with).

Review and processing usually take 24–48 business hours (excluding weekends and international holidays). Extra risk review, ID checks or an interview can extend it.

The payee name and email must match your KYC; company accounts can't be used. Pre-split profit, requested amount, amount deducted from the account and what you receive are all different numbers.

News trading and holding

Phoenix and Instant Pro allow news trading. Everywhere else, trading 5 minutes before and after major releases is prohibited.

It covers high-impact (red folder) releases on ForexFactory. For 5 minutes before and after, opening and closing related symbols is prohibited, including manual, TP and SL. Medium-impact only is not covered.

Positions opened 2+ hours before the release may be closed during the window. Sprint has no such exception — every open and close is prohibited.

Currencies: USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD, CHF, NZD, CNY. It applies to related FX, indices, commodities and crypto.

Net profit from violating trades may be deducted, and repeating it over many days can lead to account restrictions or a breach. One violation isn't an instant breach.

Overnight and weekend holding is basically allowed. Plan-specific bans, like Sprint's gap-trading ban, take priority.

Prohibited methods and scalping

Short-term trading and scalping based on market analysis are allowed. Exploiting speed or loopholes is prohibited.

Scalping over seconds to minutes is allowed if it's based on market analysis. No holding-time threshold that makes a trade safe or prohibited has been published.

Occasional small averaging down is accepted if overall risk stays controlled. Trading in the same direction isn't prohibited in itself, but the risk team reviews strongly correlated positions and concentrated margin.

  • Martingale
  • Keep increasing lots or total risk to recover losses
  • Opposite trades across multiple accounts (offsetting risk)
  • Hedging
  • Grid
  • HFT and tick scalping
  • Latency or price-difference arbitrage
  • Order spamming and system abuse
  • Exploiting demo environment glitches
  • One-sided gambling without market analysis
  • Trading purely to game the evaluation
  • Sharing or selling accounts

EAs and copy trading

Copy trading is allowed only when both the source and the destination are MONETA FUNDED accounts in your own name.

Copying from other prop firm accounts, your own regular broker account or external signals is prohibited. Copying from friends, family or anyone else is prohibited too, including manually.

Commercial EAs, third-party EAs and external signal services are prohibited. Your own EAs are allowed, but automated trading without market judgment is also listed as prohibited, so "anything self-made is fine" isn't true.

EAs can't be used on Sprint or in trading competitions. You may be asked to prove ownership and how you use the EA.

Leverage, commission and swaps

Only 2-Step has higher leverage. Commission applies only to FX and metals.

Even commission-free symbols have spreads and swaps.

2-StepFX 1:100 / Metals 1:30 / Indices 1:25 / Energy 1:10 / Crypto 1:2
Other plansFX 1:30 / Metals 1:10 / Indices 1:8 / Energy 1:3 / Crypto 1:1
Commission$4 per lot round trip on FX and metals. No commission on indices, energy or crypto
SwapsCharged when holding past rollover. Can be negative on both buy and sell. Many FX pairs charge 3 days on Wednesday

Execution, stop loss and platforms

Challenges and funded accounts are simulated trading, but slippage and execution delays are reproduced.

Buys open at Ask and close at Bid; sells open at Bid and close at Ask. Don't judge "my SL wasn't hit" from the Bid chart alone.

A stop loss is a trigger price; a fill at that price isn't guaranteed. Losses are judged on equity during the trade, not only on the balance after closing.

Platforms are MT5 (outside the US) and Match-Trader (including the US). MT5 server time is UTC+3 in summer and UTC+2 in winter; Match-Trader is UTC.

Capital limits and number of accounts

You can buy as many evaluation accounts as you like. Funded capital has a cap per plan.

Merging accounts requires each account to be at its initial balance and the merged total to be $100,000 or less.

One person registering multiple users with different emails is prohibited. Holding several trading accounts under one registration is fine.

InstantUp to $100,000
Instant ProUp to $100,000 (separate from Instant)
2-StepUp to $100,000
1-StepUp to $200,000
PhoenixUp to $2,000,000

ID verification (KYC), IP and VPN

A funded account and payouts require ID verification and the trader agreement.

You need a valid government-issued photo ID and a live selfie. Paper IDs, expired IDs and temporary permits aren't accepted. Sumsub makes the decision, and support can't overturn it.

KYC must be done by you. Proxies and family members' names are prohibited, and so are VPNs and VPSs during KYC. If you can't pass KYC, you can't get funded or paid.

Natural IP changes between home Wi-Fi, mobile data and your own devices are fine. VPNs and VPSs are prohibited in principle (they're allowed only in China, Russia, Turkmenistan and Syria). Device IDs are checked as well as IPs.

For Sprint, complete KYC before you start trading; for competitions, before you register.

Restricted countries and regions

Residents of the countries and regions below cannot use MONETA FUNDED. Eligibility is based on legal residence.

Nationality alone isn't an automatic refusal. Citizens of these countries may be able to use it if they can prove they legally live in a permitted country or region.

Eligibility depends on where you legally reside, not on the language you choose on this website.

  • Thailand
  • Vietnam
  • Cuba
  • Myanmar
  • North Korea
  • UAE
  • Iran
  • Venezuela

Inactivity, post-pass review and account security

Buying an account and leaving it untouched can lead to a breach.

On Instant, 1-Step, 2-Step and 1-Step Daily, 30 days without trading is a breach.

After passing, your funded account is issued after the target check, KYC, agreement and risk review (usually within 2 business days). You may be asked for a video interview to confirm your identity and understanding of your strategy; declining can lead to extra review, suspension or termination.

Two-factor authentication is recommended. Don't share your login details. Support is 24/7 at support@monetafunded.com.

Refunds and chargebacks

There are two ways to get your fee back.

Unused refund: if you haven't placed a single trade on the challenge and it's within 14 calendar days of purchase, request a refund by email or live chat. No refund after trading.

Refund on the 4th payout: on 1-Step Daily and 2-Step, your fee is refunded on the 4th successful payout from the same account.

Company policy: filing a chargeback with your card issuer can lead to pending payouts being refused, the account being closed and future use being blocked.

Paying for an account

Pay by card, Apple Pay or crypto.

For crypto, match the currency and network shown at checkout, and send enough that fees don't leave you short. It usually reflects in 10–15 minutes, up to about 24 hours when busy.

If it's short or late, send support your registered email, TXID, currency and network, and payment receipt. For cards, give the last 4 digits (never the full card number).

Payouts to Moneta Markets and bonuses

Choose a Moneta Markets account as your payout destination and you can pick a bonus.

20% option: your payout stays withdrawable cash, plus 20% extra as (non-withdrawable) trading credit. Withdraw cash and the bonus shrinks proportionally.

100% option: your whole payout becomes non-withdrawable trading credit and is doubled. Profit from trading is withdrawable, but the original payout amount itself can't be withdrawn later.

This is completely different from Phoenix's "credit".

Free accounts and competitions

Accounts from free offers, competitions and giveaways have a payout cap.

Free affiliate and giveaway accounts are capped at $500 in total (before split). When the cap is reached, the account closes.

Competition prize accounts are capped at $500 for a $5,000 account, $1,000 for Phoenix $10,000, $2,000 for Phoenix $20,000 and $2,000 for a $100,000 account. Regular purchased accounts have none of these caps.

Standard competitions are free, entered from the dashboard after KYC, one account per person, on MT5. The base is a $100,000 2-Step style account (5% daily, 10% max static). News trading and overnight/weekend holding are allowed; EAs, multiple entries and copying are prohibited. Competition profit can't be withdrawn — you receive prizes by ranking or draw.

The free trial is a practice account similar to 2-Step Phase 1, needing 1 profit day. You can recreate it after a breach, but not after passing.

Taxes

MONETA FUNDED doesn't issue tax documents or give tax advice.

Tax on rewards depends on the rules where you live. For how your income is classified, consult a tax professional.

What is MONETA FUNDED

A prop firm backed by Moneta Markets, a broker with over 300,000 clients.

Platforms are MT5 and Match-Trader. Phoenix scales up to $2M, Sprint pays a 100% split, and support is available 24/7.

The dashboard shows your account overview, target progress, rule monitoring, and payouts and history.
